I've been a watcher on this site for at least 3 years and have not offered much to this forum but it has been such a help to me...
I'm sure that there are many of us that have started the move back to the UK and wondering "have we done the right thing?" For us, it has all happened very quickly and we are in the OMG what have done stage. But I read this on another site - and you know what? it is so very true. So, we are following our hearts and we will be back in England at the beginning of April. Financially worse off but as we are in our 60's - money isn't always the B all and end all of everything. And no - we are not rich but we know that we want to spend out latter years back home.
The last two weeks have been a very traumatic ride and my thanks go to Quoll who has PM me - for her words of wisdom and down right common sense. This is what Steve Jobs had to say:
Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking.
Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.â€

Go for it WW - you have to look after yourself because no one else is going to live your life for you! I hope the move back is absolutely fantastic!

I love the Steve Jobs quote - and thanks to Apple the wages in those 'sweatshops' just went up hugely. Not to mention all the US jobs Apple has created, not just in HQ but all the retail stores and all the app developers and all the music marketers and the many other small businesses and employees who thrive here in the US because of Steve Jobs and his vision. And that's before you even get to the entrepreneurs like me who wouldn't ever have started their businesses without Apple's innovations and technology, or to the importance of Windows which never would have existed without Jobs.
It's easy to take cheap shots at Apple's supply chain - but hypocritical to do so unless your living room is devoid of any stereo systems, computers, TVs, lamps, furniture and clothing made under similar circumstances.
Amen! Good luck and keep us posted!
