And I am reasonably certain that while you can change and cancel certain types of business class tickets, if you just "don't show up" the same rules apply for business class flights as for economy.
Unfortunately in the 21st century skipping a leg is not just a matter of tickets, fees, and fares, but also about security and "odd" passenger behaviour. If someone skips a leg and then tries to later pick up later in the itinerary, what were they doing? Where have they been? What might they be hiding? And how did they get to the next airport if they skipped a leg? But it would mean rebooking - I can't imagine any airline allowing someone to skip a leg then pick up the remainder of the itinerary later. If you don't sow up, the rest of the flights are not held for you, your luggage (if any) is offloaded - which is what usually takes the tme - and you have to argue it out with the airline as to what you are entitled to you want to continue your trip. |

I refer to all my previous comments.
As I only use Club/Business class tickets. Any unused sections were always refunded/credited. I am always allowed to chop and change at leisure always have. And has been said, not relevant to the discussion. |
Re: Not using part of the return air ticket when we return to UK
Thanks for an intersting debate of which most of it does not apply to us because we are one of the 80% who purchased our ticket as non-refundable 330 days before we flew and I also changed the ticket on the phone and paid the difference for a two month stop over in UK. As it is our last leg of the ticket and we have hand luggage I am guessing we simply do not board the last flight. Because I am a person with morals and always hate causing a disturbance should we go up to the Information desk in the airport and tell them we are not taking the last leg so they can make arrangements for someone to be able to take that leg? It makes no difference because it has been paid for and not refundable and may even score with the sale of two tickets at much higher rates than we paid!

I would not, because you are in breach of the ticketing conditions and they could try to charge you with a ticket change fee. It would also indicate that you were deliberately planning to break the ticket terms and conditions, whereas if you say nothing and you just "disappear" at Heathrow, it could be attributed to you just having a brsinstorm. .... I see absolutely no good coming of declaring ahead of boarding that you're skipping out in London.

Re: Not using part of the return air ticket when we return to UK
Interesting thread - anyone ever heard of Skiplagged? https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/commen..._for_creating/
A whole website devoted to something called hidden city ticketing like the OP is talking about.... so, in brief. The airlines don't like it at all! To do it you need to have only handluggage, and if you want to return then you need to have 2 single tickets and not a return ticket because as Pollyanna states, the airline will cancel the return ticket if you don't use all of the legs of the outward one. Saying all that I was using skiplagged to find cheap flights to Paris from Houston. All the airlines for that time were about $1600 return.. skiplagged found me 2 singles for abotu $1000 return. |
