And Leigh Lawson lived on a Narrowboat in Travelling Man

I can only think of the one on Howards Way who always wanted to build 'proper wooden boats'.

I think this idea sounds better and better, there's certainly some beautiful countryside to be seen from the canals.

I used to cycle the Bath-Bradford on Avon towpath.
Lovely. Lots of narrowboats along the way.
Just outside Bath something like 7 sets of locks close together.

Whenever you talk to anybody who has travelled/holidayed/lived on a narrowboat the one common thread is the slow peaceful lifestyle, the slow pace of the boat and the serene surroundings of the countryside.

We used to rent one(or 2) every year from about 18-24 with the same group of 9 or 10 friends.....peaceful and serene were strangers to those holidays
But I've been a few times since those days (older/wiser) and that description was far more appropriate!

My one time on a narrow boat holiday was with a group of 10 aged 21-30 - and it was a blast. There are (or were back then) loads of pubs on the canals so it was possible to stop at a different one for lunch and dinner
. But it was also beautiful as we went through some gorgeous countryside as well as over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontcysyllte_Aqueduct - absolutely spectacular
