Re: Nanny State Britain or not?
One to make you think. I have a little place on in the UK not at present occupied my neighbour's dog jumps in my garden fouls jumps back home. My empty garden full of his dog mess and I as the owner am responsible for a possible health hazard - all the neighbours see what happens but it becomes my responsibility and I can be done for the mess.

Of course, I used to work for the company that made the vaccine. Watch the pharmaceutical ads on the TV. It is a question of invent an illness and come up with a cure. It gets even worse if you listen to the disclaimers.
As for the Dog doo in the garden. I had that same problem here in the US, when we lived in the city we had a big garden with 6 foot solid fencing all round, yet every night this pit bull type nasty dog jumped my fence and did his think in my yard. and peed all over Ds's yard toys. i had to wash everything off daily and I used to scoop the poop and throw it back over into their yard. |

The poo weary neighbour.....my poor Mum has to live next door to a family of truly horrid people who own an Alsation that is kept on a rope and occasionally let off to poo. In the Summer they mow the lawn once and once only and don't remove the poo before hand. Mmmmmmm, the smell of a freshly cut lawn! They also threw a used condom on her extension once! Neighbourly relations plummeted after that incident! They reported them to the council and they did get a warning we believe and they haven't been too bad since. The rest of her neighbours are wonderful but these lot...words can't describe.

"Contact the local Council and report the situation, maybe? They should be held responsible for their dog not fouling other people's property."
This was the council who told me it is my responsibility!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Nanny State Britain
Got a new one which will interest us ex-pats......taken from yesterday's Daily Mail.
"Scientists are wanting to discourage people from making unneccessary trips to the airport to reduce greenhouse gases. They have been awarded £500,000 of taxpayers money and will use some of the cash to develop video booths allowing passengers to bid a virtual farewell to their loved ones watching at home on a computer screen":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: |

It's awful isn't it......maybe a fence or a rather large hedge. We have a neighbour with cats and they regularly poo all over our yard, (front and back) and do their spraying thing which stinks so, so bad. It's the most repulsive smell. I often let the dog out on patrol to bark them away......but I fantasize about doing much worse! The local council wouldn't do anything about it so we haven't even tried. Bloody cats are allowed to poo wherever they like!
But like you say, for some reason it's not viewed as antisocial or unacceptable, whereas leaving dog turds on the sidewalks is (I don't do that, BTW). |

Same in my back garden, and unfortunately my dog likes her late-night "snacks" left in the flower beds by the neighbour's cats. So far it has cost me in vets bills and carpet cleaning (cleaning up dog vomit consisting mainly of half-digested cat turds is not fun).
