Hi Nicola
We lived in Totley for a while on a bloody steep hill!! I couldn't get over how some streets had hand rails on their garden walls  We moved 'south' after that to the Nottingham area, gawd knows where we'll end up this time, wherever the OH can get a job he likes, fussy bugger :D

I've got you all excited now haven't I? My MIL goes to Meadowhall every Thursday with my hubby's aunt so I get all the up to date info from them about what stores are open and what has shut down. I had a running commentary on it all when Meadowhall got badly flooded last year. I'll certainly be there this year when we are back visiting, only thing is with the US dollar being weak at the moment everything will seem so expensive in the UK, but have to say they have better fashion in the UK so it will be worth it. Maybe we should all meet up in Meadowhall instead! :D

My hubby showed me his old terraced house, I don't know how he used to get up the steps to it after a few ales in the local!

I've just read on Wikipedia that Sheffield also has more trees per person than any other city in Europe - a little fact of the day for you all!

I remember when I was learning to drive...the driving instructor took me around Crookes. Couldn't get my head around having to change into first gear to turn a corner.

It wasn't the ales that worried me, but Sheffield gets a lot of snow and ice...and the thought of having to scale those streets with yer crampons on, well:rofl:...I'll bet there was a queue for new hips and wrists by February :D

Hi Emily

Actually its an even smaller world than you think. We used to live in Dore then moved to Beauchief but the boys went to Dore Primary well one of them did the other was still in First Steps. We are moving back to Dore to get the Primary school again, like you I would like to go back to the old friends and the mums I knew. Plus all OH family live in Ecceleshall. Meadowhall, gosh what can I say about that place, but love it. If you think the shopping in bad in Canada try Australia. Crap quality huge prices. Hubby calls it Meadowhell but who cares. When I was pregnant you could blindfold me and put me in any of the shops and I could sniff out which one I was in, weird but true.

I love Whirlow we used to take them up to the Whirlow Hall Farm for the festival. I have been considering moving there or Bents Green or Parkhead for Silverdale but really need to sort out the primary school first.

We could all meet up in Startbucks on Eccie Road you know. Its where the old hairdresser was I think Headlines.

Like you Aus is ok sometimes but it isnt a patch on Sheffield.

Good luck

NIcola

Hi Nicola

We've just been through the school thing with our girls. We used to live on Bents Road and the girls went to Ecclesall Junior but it is totally full now. Lottie our eldest has managed to get a place at Silverdale on the back of our rental in whirlow but Emily is having to go to Ashdell for a year until she goes to senior school. The fees will kill us but it was all there was. Even Mylnhurst and the Girls High were full! Good luck with Dore. Have you got a rental yet?

See you on Ecclesall Road - Nonnas was always my favourite for a latte (very lady who lunches - not!!!)

Nikki :)

Elaine

You'd be more than welcome! Come for a long weekend and we can show you the sights - well the pubs, shops and restaurants anyway!

Nikki

PS how is the house sale going. We have a second time viewing tomorrow and a third time viewing on Sat so fingers crossed.
