It's been a while since I posted here but here is an update.
Lived in the US for 4 years, I am a UKC (and USC) wife is just USC.
We have 2 kiddos with both nationalities.
We have been wanting to come back to the UK for quite some time but kept on putting it off and things kept popping up, but we sold our house in October 2013 with the prospect of moving in the summer of 2014. The day after we sold our house we found out we were pregnant with child #3, 3 days later we found out it was child #3 and #4! TWINS.
Anyway we are still going ahead with our plans to move, the twins will be here on Sunday March 2nd (5 days!) and we plan on moving back on the 62,500 in savings rule. We are taking one lift van container (196 cu ft) about $2500 door to door for our bed , British TV (still going strong) and then some sentimental essential items.
I am so nervous about everything, the twins, the visa for my wife, the documentation needed, the flying, the setting up a new life, will i reconnect with my friends but at least my wonderful family will be there to support us all the way. Please someone tell me that it's going to be ok and the next 5 crazy months will work out!

Wow you definitely have your hands full right now. Congratulations on the twins hope they will be happy and healthy when they arrive. Its normal to be nervous with such major life changes happening, but you wanted to go back for a reason and Im sure that reason still stands. Take deep breaths and just focus on all the amazing things about the UK that are pulling you back. I'm going back in May and feel nervous, scared, anxious but also when I take a deep breath I feel happy to be going home. Just wish it would hurry up and get here!!
Best of luck with everything!

Good Luck with the move Wilto and congrats on the twins!!
Im heading back to UK this summer with my family too but still abit unsure about the BC application for my wife and wondered if you could enlighten me.
Wife is a Hong Kong citizen. We are planning on the savings route same as you, even if I have sufficient money in my uk bank a/c will we still need to wait a full 12 months before she can apply? And when she is eligible to apply do I have to return to Hong Kong and be with her through the application process?

My understanding is that the money (£62.5K) has to be in a bank account for six months before you apply for the spouse visa and you have to prove it with six months of bank statements. I don't think you have to be with her for any part of the process.
Good luck

I'm the UK citizen and also have US citizenship, hubby is US. We have 2 kids who are both US/UK. We tried to move last summer but mother-in-law got very sick very suddenly and we had to slam on the brakes.
House is now going on the market within the next weeks, we're in the process of pulling together all the paperwork for my hubby, we're also using the cash savings route.
I agree it all seems overwhelming...
Whereabouts in the UK will you be heading?
