Aviva and NFU Mutual are recommended often on here.
Aviva-provide this as proof of NCD.

Both our son and daughter used Aviva to get insurance on their return from the USA this year and in 2017. As well as proof of NCD they also asked for a copy of their last insurance certificate so hang onto your old one until you have car insurance here.

I went with Admiral, they asked for my driving record in the online application but did not require any verification. Not the greatest customer service, all online and they charge for record changes. But it was a good price for full coverage, I paid 422 GBP for one year.

OH is currently trying to get a quote for car insurance on a car we are thinking of buying. We have proof of NCD and have just applied to the DVLA to renew our driving licences today.
We must be doing something wrong because quotes are coming out at over £1000 and £2.500 so far. Is it just because we"ve returned to the UK? He's having trouble answering the questions on-line because they are mostly yes/no questions.

Aviva have come back as expensive but OH has spent 30mins on the phone to NFU Mutual and they have come up with a far more acceptable and reasonable quote. So many thanks Ianandhelena. On the sim card front, my cousin had 2 sims from giffgaff that she let us have, so your advice there was spot on too.

We just started from scratch with 0 no claims. We brought DMV printouts with us I ended up going into an insurance brokers office We ended up in a Swinton ins office and they got us cover I think that was Aviva too, stayed with them for 2 or 3 years then started going cheaper with Compare the market, RAC, Aviva, LV are all ones we've used. currently back with LV
