We live in Newcastle near Whitley Bay. Very cold a lot of the time up here - when i was a kid i remember the summers being lovely but for the last 5 years they have not been good. Morpeth & Alnwick are quite expensive places to live you would be better looking at Cramlington which is in between Alnwick and Newcastle on the main A1 and a lot cheaper with good facilities and links.
We had visas for New Zealand a few years ago, wife and I even had interviews in Auckland but couldnt sell our house at the time (about 9 years ago). We travelled both islands and liked Tauranga and Nelson best. Where abouts are you?
