Moving back to the Uk.
Hi, I am British born but live in Tenerife, been here since 2002. All my 3 children hold British passports but my partner is Finnish. Could anyone tell me what we need to do in Spain before I leave and what I need to do in the UK when and before I arrive. Thanks in advance...

Finland is in the EU, so your partner has the right to live and work in Britain. So, what do you need to know?
What do you intend to do in the UK? What are your plans?

Hi, what I need to know is who I need to register with or contact so I do everything right. The information from here is out of date or useless. Apart from the obvious(doctors and schools) who should I inform that I have returned to the UK? I heard that I may need to take some sort of test. I have somewhere to live and will have to find work.

I imagine you'll need to tell the Spanish Tax Man as you're resident in Spain, and HMRC when you get back to UK. As a British Citizen you do not need to take any sort of test - presumably you're thinking of a language test?
Your spanish Bank should also be told - unless you close the account.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along later with a definitive list.
here's some info - although aimed at pensioners it has good detail;
http://www.ageuk.org.uk/Documents/EN....pdf?dtrk=true
or
http://lefourquet.net/returninguk2011.pdf
this is specific to returning from Spain.
took me 20 seconds on Google.
Good luck on your return.

Re: Moving back to the Uk.
After the first 3 months in the UK, if an EU citizen isn''t working (and paying NICs each week) then they need to look at how else they can reside in the UK as a qualified person under free movement.
Apart from the worker qualified person, there is:-
Self Sufficient qualified person: must have savings when they arrive; must have health cover as they cannot use the NHS for free; can't have UK benefits.
Student qualified person: must be in study; must have health cover as they cannot use the NHS for free; can't have UK benefits.
Jobseeker Qualifed person: limited to just 3 months more to reside in the UK (in addition to those first 3 months their EU passport gave).
However, as you have been in Spain with your partner for years, you may be able to use the Singh route. I say "may" as I don't really know how it works if the partner is an EEA citizen.

Re: Moving back to the Uk.
SS route applies to non-EEA spouses; not relevant to the OP.
