Depending on location around the Lakes, you may have extra layers of bureaucracy to contend with as local authorities have schemes in place to try and ensure housing stock serves local people first, then incomers/2nd home buyers second.

I will also add my voice to those recommending you get your US citizenship before leaving the US. You may find that the UK really isn't what you expected, but be stuck and unable to return to the US. Both countries have changed significantly since the 60s - do make sure you keep your options open.

Shipping the dogs back may be harder than you think, best check on it.

We have began the process of moving the dogs with the assistance of airpetsamerica.com paperwork shots/vaccinations in progress submitted. It is quite a complicated process with not much room for error. I would highly recommend not going it alone! John...
