Following on from the Mamma Mia post, give us a movie that made you homesick and why. Just do ONE EACH so more people can have a go, rather than a big list.
Already mentioned have been Mamma Mia and Love Actually, so those are out (dammit).
I'm going to say 'Four Weddings and a Funeral.' There were so many fantastic scenes, but the mini racing about was hilarious. And on my 40th I went on a hike with my Dad right by the church they used for the first wedding.
I think the thing that made me homesick the worst was the first wedding. It was so 'British' rather than some of the weddings I've been to over here in the States.

Braveheart - the scenery alone is absolutely beautiful, just like the Highlands I visit every time I'm home

Although it took a friend of mine badgering me to watch it for years before I saw it............

Bridget Jones's Diary gets my vote

Where was the 1st wedding in 4W? I've been to the hotel where Hugh Grant/Andie McDowell copped off

As I mentioned in the 'Mama Mia' thread - mine is Kinky Boots. It's a film about a failing shoe factory in Northampton which diversifies into making boots and shoes for transvestites! (sounds weird, lovely film!) I'm from Northampton and watching certain scenes made me very homesick. It's also just the nature of the humour that only the British have that I love and miss.

Just now on Australian TV(which is absolutely garbage!) they are showing Midsommer murders which always gets me feeling homesick for old Blighty.
The stiff upper lips, the cottages, the countryside, the countless murders within one mile of each other!!!
I love that program!

When I am having a bad homesickness even Taggart and Rebus can give me a twinge, wall to wall neds, depressing grey housing schemes, countless "murrrderrrs" etc and I can have a lump in my throat.
But in real life where I am from was more like Hamish MacBeth or Monarch of the Glen (but without the folksy characters and hot guys).

Can't wait to get back there and start camping again in my opinion the most beautiful place in the world, the Scottish highlands.
What Island are you from Islandgirl?

LOL not only the acting was bad in Taggart maka!
Did you see the episode on the ABC last year where they were chasing the murderer who was driving a big powerful Merc in a police Diesel Astra and they caught him??
That was laugh out loud funny in its unfeasability.
I haven't seen the movie Local Hero in years but I imagine that would make me homesick if I did.

They were having a 'Hugh Grant night' on telly a few nights ago and I ended up watching a bit of Four Weddings, some of 9 months and the last half of Notting Hill.... I used to work near Barclay Square and would cut through and walk past the Ritz to get the tube so the scenes outside the Ritz threw me back.
One thing irritates me about Notting Hill though. 2 blokes live together in a house right in Notting Hill. One works in a book shop and the other guy is a hilarious and slightly odd welsh man who doesn't seem to work at all... yet there they are living in a house smack bang in one of the most expensive places I can think of. I know it's only a movie but pleeeease.... I think the producer should have checked on rightmove.co.uk at least!
Bridget Jones is fab. Is Huge Grant in EVERY British film????

Mona Lisa. When Bob Hoskins cruises through Paddington I think, that's where I'm from, that's where I belong.

American Werewolf in London.
I could never go into the tube in London without thinking about that film.
and the interior of the "Slaughtered Lamb" was filmed in a pub that was not too far from me.
And of course Jenny Agutter is so bleedin British
