Morbid Curiosity...

So when they say if you don't file your AOS or ROC or I-751 in time, the USCIS will begin the removal process, what exactly does this entail?
Is it the dramatic movie-style event that I am imagining, where two brutes in suits and black shades knock on your door and drag your ass into the back of their car, with a one way road trip to the nearest airport? Or is it a much more laid back, slower process involving paperwork, etc.
Not that I have anything to worry about, just purely curious what happens to the poor sods.
Incidentally, when they put you on a plane back home, do you sit with the regular passengers? I can only imagine the small talk on the plane...
"Well I'm heading back to England after a wonderful family holiday to DisneyWorld..and you?"
"I've just been deported for visa fraud. When I arrive back, I'll be homeless, jobless and useless."
"Oh."

Ian, you forgot to mention: the two brutes in suits are named Guido and
Vinny, and are PRs who DID file their paperwork on time.. :-)

Once the removal proceedings is initiated against you, you will have Notice to Appear before an Immigration Judge. Once an NTA has been issued, the matter is now in the full discretion of the Immigration Court and USCIS no longer has authority. You can have an attorney to represent you. You might be qualified for Cancellation of Removal. Or even if the Judge determines that you are deportable, you still can appeal. You can move for a stay of deportation while seeking review of an appeal. And you can always voluntarily deport, meaning you can leave on urself, buy ur own ticket and just be like any other passengers.

Very well done, GCD. Think you know far more and have had immigration training that we don't know about. How else would you pull out such a perfect answer to the imaginings of another poster.
BTW, Ian was kidding. But then certain people never have found the humour in his postings.
Congratulations on a job well done, GCD.

Is Jack an attorney who regularly helps those in deportation proceedings?
