It really is a matter of doing some research, making phone calls, sending CV's out. The job market is very tough at the moment especially in construction trades. Where are you looking at moving to?

It's a case of pounding the pavement and taking whatever comes along until he finds what he wants. If he's determined I'm sure he'd eventually get the job he wants. Times are tough in construction everywhere right now.

I understand that the North is much worse than the South, I have friends in the trade in Oxfordshire and there is loads of work but that isn't much good if you are looking at heading north. Still plenty of opportunities out there if you are keen.

Our eldest nephew is a joiner/carpenter in the North West and so far has not been out of work, the Building Industry Section seems to be picking up and doing a lot better here in the North rather than in the Southern Counties. Try looking for agencies you might contact while overseas via the internet etc. Good luck
