License exchange question?

License exchange question?
So we moved to Canada 3 years ago. We exchanged our UK license which we had held for 5 years for Ontario, then we moved to Alberta exchanged our license for Alberta license.
My question is we are now considering a move back. If we exchange our license back for a UK license. Do we put that we've held a UK license for 8 years or what do we put? That we've held it for 5 years or zero years? I am just wondering as car insurance will be incredibly expensive if we get this wrong. When you get your UK license back after an exchange do they have the date you first obtained a license on the license? I still have my UK license card as proof as I ordered an extra before we moved out to Canada and exchanged.
Thanks for your help

Re: License exchange question?
Almost certain you can just apply for a UK driving licence using this link BUT only once you are a UK resident again. Your DVLA record will still be held on computer and as regards the answer to any question on your insurance application I would speak with them when you apply...... not sure what the wording used to be and if it specified "UK driving Licence' in the number of years held question.

Re: License exchange question?
I know it is illegal in Ontario to hold more than one DL...you must surrender all other DLs. I presume the same applies for other Provinces.

As far as I know one is issued with just the one UK license card and that is only replaced if the original is lost , stolen, damaged or destroyed somehow. It is not possible to order extras just in case.
Here on BE we air on the side of caution and aim to keep all advice and info clear , true and legal.
If it was required that you surrender your UK driving license card, as I feel may well be likely here, then how did you come to now still have a UK driving license card please?
Yes. In terms of BE , it is relevant.
