Kiwi moving to UK
Hi all,
Been a while since I posted an not sure if this is the right place to post but maybe mods could move if not.
A mate of mine (kiwi) 51 years old highly skilled ( phd) laboratory scientist is thinking of looking for a post in the UK. Has a couple of grand backup. He has a Scottish grandfather ( deceased). His partner ( common law long term) would want to come and she is 50 years old (UK grandparent) and would be keen to look for some work maybe even charitable work
Anyone know if the above could be a goer or just a pipe dream?

Re: Kiwi moving to UK
Looks like both would be eligible for an Ancestry visa given their UK born grandparents so quite a straightforward reality

Re: Kiwi moving to UK
Can the OP and partner apply for their British Passports ? This is so that if they enter Britain they can look for work and not worry about any entry conditions being put on their NZ passports when looking for work or working.
I can't second guess the process of applying via the ancestry route but do they have/could they get the birth and death certificates of their respective relevant ancestors ? If they apply for their British passports then they will know what's involved. Although, if going to Britain to work with the correct immigration things in place for their NZ passport, then that's up to them.

I'd recommend waiting until after the independence or not vote in a few weeks time before making any major decisions.

Nothing to stop them from coming in on ancestry visas now though.

If the vote goes to the Yes camp our house will be up for sale as both of us have been told our jobs will go, along with thousands of others, as our employers will be relocating. It's a nice house
