Welcome. I recommend HSBC. We opened an HSBC in the GTA in anticipation of upcoming retirement to either France or the UK. We turned out do both (0ff topic). We've had HSBC accounts in all 3 countries since 2014 and never had a problem moving money into of out of any one of them online in seconds using their Global Transfer system. 10/10 for us.

You are my hero! I'd love to live in both the UK and France. Have you shared your story somewhere here BE? Also, did you happen to take out a mortgage with HSBC International? I am thinking of looking into this. Thanks in advance.

There is now the 'Wise' account which you can use as a multi-currency account for spending in most countries but has limitations as a bank. You have to fund this account from your current bank account.

Wise card launches in Canada – Affiliate Partner Update - Wise, formerly TransferWise
