Default importing car to uk

recently bought a new mitsubishi colt cabriolet here in perth and unexpectedly need to go back to the uk. do i try and sell my car here or bring it back to the uk ($3000 to transport). not sure about costs involved in the uk. any advice would be welcomed. tried emailing various people in uk customs and excise and yet to receive an answer.

If you have owned it for over 6 month's you can bring it in as a "personal import" no charge .IF NOT THEN Be ADVISED that customs and excise will take the value of the car add VAT then compound that number with import duties. If you cannot come up with that amount you will incur "shed charges".Gets expensive.I was shipping cars and bikes over back in the mid 90's ,1 car a classic had the stereo robbed from it.My agent over there informed me that the car had a pair of cutters left inside marked "sheffield"(made in england).this was done while in customs hands .we raised hell with them,so they in turn refused to release my car.I ended up paying them off under the table.BARSTEWARD'S.
