You are nearly there so do take a deep breath :)
Try E Bookers as they are generally quite good on prices... |

WhoFan63, I just want to say that I don't post much on your threads, but I'm having the best time reading them!!
I think it can safely be said that when things come together as well as they seem to be for you, you can have no doubt that going home is the right decision. :) |

Try E Bookers as they are generally quite good on prices... Thanks for that. I did just check them out and they were quoting me £1,169 one way from Phoenix to Manchester, so that's around $1780 in USD. Ouch! LOL |

Buying a ticket so close to your date of departure is going to be expensive. That's the unfortunate bottom line.

It's going to be a quick book too because I will get my passport and then immediately book my flight and hopefully it won't be one for the next day..LOL So I have a few options, especially because I don't want to get into Manchester too late. I can do as you say and pick a crappy flight with a couple of stops and get a decent price. (cheapest one way is $890).. OR I can book a flight into London and stay overnight there, then get a flight to Manchester the next morning. That's why I dither about a return ticket versus the one way. I can get better flights with a return ticket and a decent price and crappy flights with a one way.. LOL Go figure ! |

If a round trip is cheaper, then that's what I'd buy. Who cares if you don't use the return? The airline doesn't.
A night in London? Hmmm. That doesn't sound bad to me either. It's just so hard to co-ordinate decent flight times. I'd either be leaving Phoenix at some ungodly hour of the morning (and I have to take into consideration friends who will want to be there and of course take me to the airport), or I get a late arrival in Manchester. I'd prefer to arrive in Manchester in the morning, so that by the time I get to the flat I have plenty of time to relax over a cuppa and then go get some shopping in....LOL The majority of flights I've seen so far either arrive at 4.45pm or later. So it would be at least 6pm by the time I've got to the flat after getting my suitcase and grabbing a taxi. I can't imagine there would be much open at that time.. LOL |
Re: I'm all set !
Just found a flight Phoenix to Chicago to Dublin to Manchester. Leave Phoenix 5.50am, arrive Manchester 7.30am for $728.16 one way :) Would probably need to be at the airport by at LEAST 3.20am. :( Silly question, but would Dublin be classified as my first official entry point into the UK?? So I would probably have to collect my suitcase and check it in again for the onward flight to Manchester?? Or...would my suitcase be checked in all the way to Manchester???
But will have to wait until I get my passport and hope there is something similar. I'd love to book now, but can't guarantee when I will get my passport. They've been processing it since Feb 20th, so the passport office said that all being well they should print it some time next week. I think it's best I have the passport in hand before I book just in case...LOL |

Re: I'm all set !
You probably would go though immigration in Dublin, not sure about the luggage it may go straight through unless the follow on flight is something like Easy jet.
I did return flights when my sons moved over, then a few weeks before the return flight I called and cancelled the return part and they refunded me the taxes on the ticket (which was a lot!) this was with BA. I did it so there return part was dated off season, so cheaper. |
