Haha, sorry. We always buy the purple spuds and haven't been able to get them this past few weeks. What's going on?

It's like the Mangoes, Pears etc.....they just disappear until next year!!!! I remember when we first arrived that when we shopped at Coles you could buy: Jaffa Cakes, Dandelion & Burdoch Mineral (pop to others)...Bisto gravy granuals, all at cheap prices and they flew off the shelves...you cannot buy things like that now unless you go to the "English Sweetie Shops"!!!

Our local IGA and pharmacy sells alot of stuff like that. My OH prefers a biscuit which is like Jaffa Cakes that they sell in IGA called 'Pims'. They are imported, definitely not Australian.

I know what you mean about things disappearing though. The aussies have no idea what it's like to have real choice.

We can get all those in the 'Taste of Britain' in Joondalup and Butler. Not so sure about the Gold bars though.

It is frustrating only being able to get stuff in season.

It is, especially in the winter when I can't get a nice swede and parsnips for my casseroles.

Right! I have a test for all of you this weekend...Go and buy a pack of Smiths Thins, chicken flavoured crisps. Now sitting comfortably, close your eyes and pop one into your mouth and Hey Presto! Cheese and onion crisps. I thought they'd put them in the wrong packet to start with, but now, whenever I want cheese and onion, I just buy chicken

Are you serious? I loathe chicken flavoured crisps, so I might get the OH to try some.

Unfortunately you cant buy them all year round, I read an article about them in the Good Food magazine and they are still hand planted and hand harvested off the near vertical hills on the Isle of Jersey. It was really interesting stuff, but after I'd read it I didn't mind paying extra for them anymore. Definitely seasonal which makes them taste all the better...sigh

I swear! I even got my mate who was visiting to try them in case I really was going mad, and she agreed. Def. cheese and onion.

Explains why the food is dismal though, doesn't it
