Honeymommy update. :o)
A Big hello to all..
I have had a number of Emails asking how we are all doing, so I thought I would post here to make it easier for me as my time is so limited now... LOL.
Everyone is doing well. It's been a year and 2 months since we returned. Mr H is still working for the same company, and enjoying it. He did go on a business trip to Tokyo a few months back. On his return he asked if we would like to move there.... A resounding NO!!!! from all put a stop to that... LOL
Kids are all enjoying school. Eldest has just started his GCSE options and is volunteering to help with sound and setup for all performances and functions at school... Middle son has just started Grammar school which is costing a bomb, but oh so worth it as he is in my opinion a genius... LOL. The twins have just started year 5 and we have opted for them to take the SAT's this year, so they are getting ready for that.
Had a great vacation in Cornwall. Lovely weather and great bodyboarding/skimboarding. I even rode and electric bull Hahahah...
We went to a slate mine, a castle where we saw jousing and medieval dispays and fighting. Went panning for gold. Took a boat out, and not once did we lose a child... )
Work for me is challenging, exhausting and stressful, but I love it.
As far as being 'homesick' for California... Yes I still am at times, but have just learned to deal with it and look at the positive things here in the UK.
Well thats about it for now... I have just finished a night and am off to bed for a nice sleep. I have been popping in here on and off, and it's lovely to see names I recognise, and hear how everyone is doing with their coming and going or just staying put.....
Have a wonderful day all....
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We went all over Cornwall.. From Falmouth across to Perranporth and St Ives, down to Lands end and a load of other villages and towns all around.. A lot of driving but fun. The kids loved the beach at Perranporth for body boarding and skimming.
It has changed a lot over the years though. Loads of expensive surf type shops... crap cornish pasties all over the place... Shame the old traditional things get commercialised...

Honeymommy - I'm a fairly recent member to the site, so wasn't around when you were going through your visa troubles.
But I do empathise. I was on an H1B and we couldn't have cut it finer in terms of applying for the greencard. It was quite an emotional rollercoaster ride, and we could never make long term plans because we never knew if we would be staying or leaving. Anyway, it all worked out in the end. We got our greencards in 2001, and next year we are eligible to apply for citizenship.
I came over to the USA in 1994 - at the time I thought I would just come over for a couple of years and see how it went. The company I worked for offered to apply for a greencard after my first year, but I turned them down at the time
Finally managed to get a greencard from my 3rd company, but by that time, as I mentioned, we were very close to the 6 year limit of the H1B. Scary stuff.
I see you and eurotramp have been talking about Cornwall. Well, I'm from Plymouth (in Devon, but right on the border with Cornwall) so I know the area well. In my opinion the southwest is the most beautiful part of England - but I am biased! Heck, they even grow palm trees in Torquay!
My wife is also from Plymouth. We both have family there and go back to visit every year. Still miss the old place. Not a lot of jobs in the area though - mostly tourism and farming. And the pay is pretty poor. And then add the insult of expensive housing to boot. Fortunately we still have our house in Plymouth, but its not being rented out (long story) so I have the dubious pleasure of paying 2 mortgages - one in CA and one in Plymouth.
Anyway, glad you've settled back in to life in the UK. Any plans to come visit CA in the future?

Good to hear from you and that you are settled!
I'm another one that returned from the US to the UK against my will. After an initial bad time settling in, had some good years in the UK, but have eventually ended up here in Au. Funny old life, isn't it?
Glad you enjoyed Cornwall & I still maintain it has the best wildflowers anywhere in the world! It's lovely in midwinter too - very bleak, scenic & few tourists.
Cheers,
Anya.
