Why is it called homecoming? They'all haven't been anywhere.

They welcome back former students. Our kids have their homecoming parade on Monday, their homecoming football game next Friday and their homecoming dance next Saturday.
I'm up to my eyeballs in ribbon and glue making DS's girlfriend her "mum"

We'll be going to our daughter's old school for the homecoming game. They don't do the "mum" things here thankfully.

Homecoming is the tradition of welcoming back former residents and alumni of an institution. It most commonly refers to a tradition in many universities, colleges and high schools in North America. It usually includes activities for students and alumni, such as sports and culture events and a parade through the streets of the city or town.

Haha - I was wondering the same thing but was to embarrassed to ask - our local radio station have 'Dumb Question Amnesty' on the last day of every month - maybe we should have a regular slot on BE

P.S. 'mums' are the ugliest things I have ever seen - no disrespect to the mothers on here who have spent the last three weekends putting them together
