Re: having a "are we doing the right thing day"
End of the day you have to do what is right for you :)
It is very easy for people in England to say your mad for moving back but until they have gone through the process of actually leaving the country then they really don't know what it's like. It's not until you move you appreciate what you had there. |

I'm feeling exactly the same right now as you'll see from my other thread "Why am I so indecisive".
I find myself changing my mind 10+ times a day now, going from feeling certain one minute that going home is what I want, to feeling certain the next minute that I'm better off staying here. I hate being so indecisive but I just don't know how to cure it! |

I hate being so indecisive but I just don't know how to cure it! One of the things for us is that the lifestyle will be so different. Here in the US, it's really only my wife and I, so our time is our own and we can do whatever we want, when we want. On the other hand, we miss out on all the family and cultural events and we know if we went back we'd have to attend alot of those events. The other thing for us, well for me, is on the career front. I feel a lot more confident about my job prospects in the US than in the UK and that's the reason I moved out to the US in the first place. On top of that, my mother and father are getting older and by the time we qualify for citizenship in the US, they'll both be past their 70th birthdays. Then again, they've always said to me to make sure that I was doing what made my wife and I happy. So yes it's a difficult decision and not one that I'll be certain of when I make it and I'm sure that there will be some question and tears based on whether the decision that we make is the right one. To the OP, one advantage that you have is that citizenship isn't too big an issue for you and if needed you could always return to Spain. Of course, it would be a massive move agian, but you can use the thought that you could always return as a little piece of mind. Good luck. |
