Posted on » Friday, October 26, 2012
LONDON: Britain stormed out of its longest double-dip recession since the 1950s after its economy returned to growth in the third quarter with a robust gain of one per cent, official data showed yesterday.
British gross domestic product, or combined value of produced goods and services, grew at the strongest rate for five years during the July-September period after contracting in the previous three quarters.
Great news for the thousands of folk returning to the UK

While good news, one quarter with 1% growth is not quite storming.

Yeah and I have my doubts about it because I think it's mainly post-Olympics stuff. I think triple dip maybe on the cards so watch and see I guess. Also people should be aware of London GDP dragging everywhere else up etc.

Of course the BBC pundits, as ever in their blatant pro Labour anti Tory political bias and partisanship, are dousing this story with cold water....this is what one of today's national newspapers (26/10/12) are saying...however, please bear in mind it is the Daily Mail, but also bear in mind they are reporting good news and not the usual bad:

Some cynics might just say: "It's the Olympics, stupid!"
Well, the London 2012 Olympics really did reflect Britain and the British people in a very happy and positive light which clearly showed what we are capable of accomplishing.
All of the Office of National Statistics reports on the state of the nation recently have all been positive - falling unemployment, a fall in the rate of inflation, the best manfacturing figures for 25 years and now this emergence from the recent recession with a positive GDP figure.
All good news......but naturally enough not according to the BBC! But just consider the mess the BBC is in right now with one thing or another.....to think it was once the most respected broadcasting medium in the world! Yuk!

Good news indeed, plus inflation has come down from over 5% to just 2.2% and unemployment figures just released are down by 50,000. We have had a really tough 3 years or more in the UK and its great to see some good news at long last, let's hope it carries on.

Thank you Brigette! George Osbourne owes me a personal letter of thanks, too!

This one is doing the rounds again - No idea whether it's more viable than the last time it was dusted off!

And at least we're not Spain - BBC News just now announced that unemployment is at 25% there ... seems unbelievable. I remember when "1 in 10" was such a big deal here in the UK that UB40 made a song with the same name.

HAHA! I clipped the wrong article. That one didn't even make the local paper yet so it must be true!

I just can't get my head round why Spain's unemployment is so high, fair enough, maybe 10 or 12% tops, but double that, it doesn't make sense and Greece is like a dying animal, which needs help to put it out of its misery, but no one has the guts to do it and so the Euro crisis limps on, month after month with no real sign of recovery.

It really is more great news to add to the unemployment and inflation figures, all these good figures add to the positivity and help stimulate spending and investment.
