Hi, after 9 years of living the dream we're going back, and have the following questions to ask;
Can anyone reccommend a shipping agent/removal company to do the move from Sydney (Wollongong) to UK?
Does NAB have an affiliated bank in the UK ?
Do ANZ Home Loans have an affiliate in the UK ?
Will we have a credit rating or will we have to rent for a year ?
Any other help and advice gratefully accepted.
(Both Kate and I are British Citizens now with dual nationality)
Thankyou, this forum got me here, I'm sure you can get me 'home' !

Hi Scarybeach,
Not sure about your other questions but I know that NAB own both Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks in the UK so they do have a retail presence here.
We have a forum on banking on British Expats http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=776096 so if you go there and post I will be able to give you contact details for NAB in the UK.
Alternatively feel free to private message me.

If things don't work out with NAB, try HSBC. We used them to obtain, bank accounts, debit and credit cards in the UK, while living in Canada. It also makes it simple to transfer money from $$$'s to GBP's. The Cdn branch provided the UK office with our credit rating details and the UK, office took it from there.
It is a good idea to get a copy of your claims history from your car and home insurers. Whilst some insurers will not recognize claims discounts from other countries, some will take it into account and it will be reflected in the premium you pay. Also, get a copy of your driving history from the appropriate govt. authority. I used NFU Mutual on my return and they were very helpful and took my Canadian claims experience and driving history into account.
Best of luck with your move.
