Default Going back to school in U.K. age 16?

How difficult would it be for my 16 year old to go back to school in the U.K. to do A levels after spending 3 years in the USA and missing GCSE? Will he have to do conversion exams to apply to do A levels or go to a U.K. University? What US qualification is comparable?! I’m confused! Any help appreciated.

The two systems are not comparable although arguably he will find A-levels harder than senior high school in the US. Mandatory education ends at 16 in the UK so he’ll need to apply to a Sixth Form or college. He can apply to UK universities on the strength of his A-level results although he not be eligible for home student tuition fees.

Our youngest returned at 17 even though in the last year of 12 I. WA and in the top classes he had. nothing to actually show for all those years in education, he went to 6th form here in the UK, studied 3 GCSES Iin maths English and science while also studying for an advanced diploma in sports (similar to 3A levels) and after 2 years was offered a place at university. He found the when process very easy and much more flexible learni.g avenues to WA, he is now a teacher at a private grammar school. We brought all his education details over from Australia, everything was out of zinc, we had fantastic help from teachers etc as they are very much use to overseas students, he and also our eldest both went and graduated from University, both have said there are so many options for study and career help they found it excellent. Good luck
