I think the biggest mis information is that people have rose coloured glasses. There is a lot of mis information on this web site, if you go on the Oz pages and say something bad about the place you are slated.
I am in a very good job high paid. The things I would say to people are:-
Work is ok if you are high paid the cost of living comparatively:-
Food - far more expensive
Travel - air fair - far more expensive
travel - Car second hand far more expensive
Travel - petrol - far cheeper, but have to travel further
Travel - new car cheeper
Clothing - cheeper not as much choice lot of imported crap
Houses- cheeper, standard of build poor
Eating out - cheeper, but no good pubs
Cinema - same
People - friendly if they have to be (if they work for you or with you)
The things I miss - open space that you are allowed to go on. Most of the land in Oz is privately owned.
Culture, no history museums are full of aboriginal crap once you have looked at one boomerang you have seen them all.

You are not really at that point where you have to finally decide, so I would post it. If you get approved, then you can answer that question. Do some more research, I would also say a lot of people will embellish there own expericences in this particular forum, so don't let that sway you, take it with a grain of salt.

I feel your pain Louise, you feel a failure and angry so want to take it out on me and even embellish with additional comments. You not going to stalk me from forum to forum doing this are you...At least tell me you 30 - 40 years old, fairly good looking etc.
