how do you go about getting your NI number. its been 24 years since i was back there

just pop into your nearest JobCentrePlus office

I requested a form from the Department of Work and Pensions. Filled it in, sent it off and received a shiny new card with my NI number on it. Took about 2 or 3 weeks.

Our two sons were born in the U.K but lived in Aus for longer and were not issued with a NI number, we could either fill in a form from the Revenue Dept or we made an appointment with the nearest Job Centre Plus (a bit of a wait and not many actually do the N.I numbers) I did this because while at the interview our sons can also actually be assessed to see if they can claim any grants etc for help with their education, this service can also help if you would also like to see what you are or not entitled to as some might need help etc. Good luck we spent 12 years in Perth....its quite warm there for this time of year my OH said 33 on Tue....he's busy swatting flies...lol...

i have got a number somewhere just need to find out what it is. it was 34 today. 36 tomorrow and the flies have been shocking for the last 3 weeks. its getting to be a pain just walking the dog
