Default Getting a mortgage back in the UK

Just a query:
Would there be any value in trying to get a letter from my existing mortgage lender to state that I've never defaulted on a payment? Would this help to get me a mortgage back in the UK?

Just trying to plan ahead.

Thanks.

Just going through the mortgage process back here in the UK. To be honest, it all seems to be based on UK stuff - job, permanent address, credit rating etc. I haven't been asked for any Aus stuff yet but as the other poster said, it can't hurt to get as much as possible.

The biggest single thing my broker says is working in our favour at the moment is a large deposit resulting in a smaller LVR

Good luck

The other thing is homes are not selling and that is not good for the mortgage people. No mortgages=no income and they have to pay their bills.

We are doing this at the moment-as stated they all want it related to the UK-we do have quite a good deposit but it was no (HSBC)-trying others-hopefully it will be ok-it sure has changed since 2005 though.

We have a mortgage in principal from the Halifax, we did this from Australia and it was fairly straight forward just had to certify some documents ie....pay slips and bank statements also our British passports and that was all...we did deal with a lovely lady from Halifax based at their head office in Sheffield and so far she has been a gem....if you like I can email you her contact address at the halifax.....good luck....also we have an offer from HSBC, we opened a UK bank account with them while in Aus and just called in when we arrived in the UK took in all the details required and we are okay to go with them as well.....good luck...

No, my OH works in Australia (we both lived there when we applied for the mortgage) I recently returned to the UK to live while my OH finishes his employment in Aus. We sent my OH's Aussie pay slips and Halifax were fine with that...as were the HSBC (who have also offered a mortgage) we opened a British bank account with HSBC also while we were in Aus. I will just check with R. at Halifax and see if she will not mind if I send you her work email address.....

Thankfully, we had kept our old Abbey account alive with 30 quid in so we were approved for fast track after a bit of jiggery-pokery with the previous residence info. Best thing is we are now considered FTB by estate agents here so are put forward as preferred buyers (no chain, mortgage approved).

Now to find the right house...
