Hi there
Does anyone have experience of being able to get a job before you get back to the UK?
If so please would they share info- also would like to know how long before our credit would be re-established for a mortgage.
Thanks

You'll need to apply for vacancies that will interview when your'e back in the UK not whilst you're still likely to be in Oz, so I'd say its difficult to do if you are trying to arrange your departure date having first secured a job (hope that makes sense)
As for credit, not sure as we kept our UK bank accounts and credit cards but i'm sure someone else will have the info you require.
Good luck

Do you have a date to go back or are you trying to get a job before you leave? I knew I was leaving on the 17th and in the 2 or 3 weeks prior started applying for jobs online. Managed to get an interview for 3 days after I landed and was offered the job the same day! So it can be done, amid all the doom and gloom this was only 4 weeks ago.

I was trying to get a job before we go back.!
So sounds like the job market isn't too bad then if you managed to get something pretty soon? What field of work are you in if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks

My OH is a forensice psych nurse. He added his CV to numerous websites before we left Sydney and was bombarded with enquiries. No one would offer a job until he got to UK, but once we had landed he already had half a dozen interviews lined up either with agencies or full time perm jobs. He was offered and accepted a permanent full time post within 3 weeks!!
He also has agency work to keep us going until he starts the new job.
I dont know what field of work you are in, but if you would need a CRB check to be done before starting, please be aware it can take anything up to 8 weeks to be processed, although OH managed to get his back in 4 weeks.

My OH was lucky enough to get a job back here before we returned - he used Hays and we found them really good.
Depends on what kind of job he wants but utilitiy work seems to be really picking up here, my OH has already been offered 3 jobs in the last few months!!!

Construction, my OH is a Project Manager building sub stations and stuff, energy isnt suffering by the looks of things. So if youre an electrician and do stuff like line work and things I think you be ok. I was looking and theres loads of jobs going for the underground in London.

We tried for 2 and a half months applying for jobs for my husband and initially no one seemed to pay any attention once they saw we were abroad. The recruitment agencies he spoke to would be really positive until he said where he was. In the end, he booked a flight back for a week and we tried applying for jobs again but this time we had dates that he would be in the UK. We even re applied for some of the jobs that had ignored us! This time he got several interviews and he got offered 2 of the jobs. So we then based our moving back to the UK date around the start date as we knew we couldn't go back without the job. This was back in October and i remember the week that he went back for the interviews was the worst week for the finance industry in the media (his job is in finance) so it just shows you.....
