I work in Education and plan to return end June 2013.

I have Police clearance from the 2 countries I worked in previously (Saudi and Egypt) and will get this from my current country (Dubai) prior to moving back.

I am guessing I will also need to get a UK CRB if I am to work in schools, even though I havent lived there for 11 years.

My questions are:

Do I need to get one if I haven't lived there for so long?
If so, can I do this prior to coming back?
How do I do this 'remotely' from another country? (I will be coming back for Easter so could do it in UK if this would work)
How long does it take/how much in advance of June do i need to do it?
Is there a particular place I get this done?
How much does it cost?
Is it possible to get a transferable CRB to avoid having to get separate ones for each job I apply?

You will need one regardless of how long you have been back. But it is not for you to get, employers wont accept one you have and will do their own every time. Only exception is if you sign up with an agency, they will do one and each placement will accept it so long as it is within date (3 years usually).

I have several all in date but employers wont accept them. Sometimes they will let you start work with the one you have but no one to one contact until their application for your CRB comes back, sometimes not.
