When I was in QLD, I smeared 'vics' vapour rub on my wrists and ankles and knees.

yes I smelt like a 'sick' person but they kept away.

In Thailand, I have neve seen flies like it and we bought something called 'Tiger Balm'. I think you can get it in many countries?

Anyway, its stronger than 'vics' and worked a treat with mozzies as well.

To be safe, I used it with the mozzie repellant 'Bushman' which we bought in QLD, and that worked.

Worth a try I suppose.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. My daughter and I are very fair skinned and are not getting bitten. My husband and son are darker skinned and getting eaten alive. We all eat garlic and all eat lots of Vegimite.
Funny because I always thought the mozzies would go for fairer skin.
