Ask about the pneumococcal vaccine when your at the Dr's on Friday.
I'll get back to you as soon as my mate gets back to me. She's a senior Practice Nurse so I trust her opinion.

Cheers peeps.

Flea, my mate went off and called the head Practice Nurse and this is what she emailed me to say.

"
Also no probs with having 2 vaccines - in studies people have been given up to 6 doses with no ill effects. Guillian Barr syndrome is only a rare side effect.

Flu vaccines are different in north and south hemispheres. South hemisphere vac does not cover for North hemisphere bugs - info on WHO website."

So, here's the weblinks incase you want to go all medical. ;o)
She basically said the flu jabs ARE different in different countries.

Cheers Flea. xx

Commonwealth Serum Laboratories make the flu vaccine here my son's ex was a scientist there.

I have the flu vaccine every March since it nearly took me off in the late nineties. There is also a pneumonia vaccine and my mum has had that. Its free here in Aus for over 65's.

I think if you had the vaccine in 2007 that would have covered the bad flu and I would be asking the experts. I think they make the flu vaccine here and send overseas too as we are usually the first to get new strains and then it goes to Europe.

I know that this last winter we had a lot of gastro type illness here as well.
