Select a slightly different outgoing day and the return price goes up to $469. So my trip costs an extra $30-40 but the price is moved from the outgoing ticket to the return. Just plain confusing.

I know what you mean, I was looking at prices on BA and noticed the same thing. Move our outgoing date and the return trip price changes too weird.
I found some good prices on KLM through Amsterdam.

If you are near the canadian border, you could fly with this airline http://www.flysunwing.com/ they are supposed to be part of TUI.

I was just quoted $1288 to fly from Charlotte to Inverness in May.

Curious to see of the price comes down any when I am ready to book.

With my rewards points I will get $800 of the price.
