Expat/returning tax and financial sites
This is for Yorkieabroad who asked me to pass on any info I had on companies specializing in finances for returning expats. Below is a list of sites that I've researched over the last day or so that look promising, HSBC international has a very good website and I like that they are connected with a bank, they even mention the tax implications of foreign pension plans, also Lloyds TSB has a brief brochure on "moving back". I assume most banks with off shore branches will have similar services. The others tend to be accountants and I'm worried about the fees.

Finally, this may be a bit off subject for this forum, but, "Howay the Boro". This season the Premiership, next the Champions League. To support Boro you have to be a masochist with a strong fantasy life.

You might have mroe luck if you get a few quotes and also consider if it's cheaper having a US person do the US tax return and a UK person do UK taxes.

Re: Expat/returning tax and financial sites
750 GBP sounds very expensive to me. When we left the UK we hired an accountant from a large local firm who was experienced in looking after expatriate clients. It may be better to try and find a firm in the area you are going back to live in, where one of the partners specialises in expatriate accounts & taxation.
