Default Do You Get Tired Of Defending Yourself In Here?

God, its boring at times isnt it?

It has now got to the point where I read these posts, sigh, shake my head and sail on by.
I find it incredible just how many people feel the need to come in here and challenge our desires to come home!!

The truth is, those of us who want to go home really dont give a toss how much you love it here. Happy that you do, but puleeeze, dont make out you are in someway superior, smarter, emotionally stronger, or smug in your decisions.

I dont agree with your views of Australia. You dont agree with mine. Dont waste your time in here preaching to the converted. Get out in the Australian sunshine, have a barbie, crack a tinnie, wallow in the water. Do you REALLY need to be in here?

oooh rooo .... toodle pip

Absolutely agree Flea!

I cant for the life of me understand why anyone so deliriously happy in their Utopia would spend hours on line justifying their idyllic life. Why on earth they are not out there enjoying it and mixing with the natives is beyond me.

I know that they say they want to repay the kindness of people who helped them on their journey but that still doesnt answer why on earth they would want to come in here amongst people who know that the Emperor is stark buck naked and who have an entirely different focus in their lives. If Aus (or whichever destination they have chosen) is so bl**dy brilliant why are they bothering to read about going home.

Slightly off topic - it was really interesting to see the thread in the Aus forum questioning whether the grass really was greener here - more folk than I would have expected were actually advising against the move. Most of those for the move were people who hadnt actually arrived yet.

Mind you, sometimes it is fun to play with the trolls, their naivete can be amusing.

Methinks some of those people who spend their time singing the praises of their adopted countries, protesteth too much.
i certainly sympathise with you for having to put up with an almost constant bombardment of that kind of thing. As I've said, I'm OK with where I am, even if it is a baking, dusty hole in the middle of the bloody desert, but I went through similar feelings when I was living in the UK, but homesick for the US and my family, so I know how deep that longing can be.
Bottom line, no country is going to be Shangri-La. If you want to be where you know you belong, you shouldn't have to be belittled or mocked for it.

Yep me too.
I also have an acqantance from work who I think is on a mission to prove that its better here than home.

I was reading that one yesterday about the lady in Perth hubby is a brickie. My SIL is a brickie in WA has had a terrible time getting job and on 457 His sponsoring employer shut the buisness down within a month of him moving over he had 4 weeks to find another job He and family had to move 5 hours outside perth to get a new job and hes on rubbish wages, gets about $22 hour no fun when you have wife and 2 kids. Also notice that a couple of the ones warning about being here getting real tough are some that have been here 5-10 years

Glad I came though coz that 'itch' for oz has been well and truly scratched

Yep I dont undertand either why if they are so bloomin happy that they spend endless amount of hours posting on BE. Its one thing to come on trying to be helpful and answer some posts or pose some questions but to spend most of the day on here when you are shouting about how wonderful OZ is, I dont think so somehow, something seriously not right IMHO.

It sure does! I think those that bleat on about that probably haven't been here long ... I know I thought it was marvellous for the first couple of years. To be fair though I think we as human beings just become complacent wherever we are. Did I take advantage of all the castles and wonderful history around me when I lived in UK? Not really, I probably longed for beaches and BBQs instead

Rabsody, when we were in the UK we were forever hearing 'my goodness, I have lived here all my life and haven't seen half the sights around here you have', yet people forgot that we had come on a working holiday to the UK mainly so we could see those sights! If we had been born in the UK we may not have bothered, or at least not been out every weekend searching for new attractions to visit. So I understand what you are saying!

I know. I lived in UK (mainly Kent) for 27 years and have never been to Scotland or Ireland. I have not travelled much at all round the UK TBH. It's quite embarassing, but if ever I wanted a break (or had the money to do so) I would go abroad rather than travel around UK.

travelled around UK extensively, if I had the funds I would live in the highlands scotland or Lake District, but I havent and a shitty pension fund I have to positon myself where I can have an appropriate lifestyle for peanuts.

As for retiring it wont be Aus neither, Im thinking more Asia as its cheaper and my pension will go further.

LOL

I think it is more the other way round though, those that have something to say about us not being happy in OZ have the real problems Why they get so defensive if they are happy beats me.
