Do we move to Scotland or Ireland?
We are leaving South Africa after 7 years having originated from England. We want to move to a quiet rural location and would love to move to Galway in Ireland however we are concerned with regard to use of the NHS as we are not getting any younger. We know nothing of what is covered in Ireland. Would it be feasible to register with a doctor in Northern Ireand and travel north for prescriptions etc.
Does anyone have any information that might help
Many thanks
Peter

If you want to use the NHS you have to be resident in the United Kingdom. So if you're planning to move to the Republic of Ireland, then the answer is absolutely no.
You may wish to investigate the health service options available in the Republic of Ireland (not as comprehensive as the NHS) or alternatively re-consider your planned country of destination.
