Re: Customs Form .. Transfer of Residence
TOR question re type of goods. I can't find anything specific that states the difference between tools of the trade and portable tools of the trade. It looks like tools of the trade don't qualify for relief, but portable tools do. Does anyone know the difference? I am bringing some tools for my hobby of jewellery making, including a small rolling mill and a small press. My partner is bringing his tools for working on motorcycles. They are his home tools, but that is what he will be doing full time as a job also. He has his own press and it won't be used in his job. How do I list these on the inventory list? We paid tax on them here in the US. I really don't want to have to pay duty/VAT on them when we return home.

Many Thanks Andrew "Enclosures The following documents should be enclosed with your application: • a copy of your passport, including your visa if necessary • proof of registration - this document should show you've taken up residence in the UK or another country of the European Union (EU), and the date on which you did so, you may also send some other, comparable document which provides reasonable evidence for this purpose • two signed lists of goods, state the goods you wish to import on this list and identify any goods not eligible for ToR • invoices, proofs of guarantee etc. for the goods you wish to import (commercial documents) • your tenancy or purchase agreement of your home outside the UK Enclose copies of any documents which show you're going to live in the EU, for example, employment contract, employer’s statement, work permit or your tenancy or purchase agreement for the home you plan to live in. This is an illustrative list. If you don't have the above documents you may send alternative evidence to support your claim to ToR. " 1. A (Black and white) copy of the photo page from your passport and a copy of your UK visa (if issued); 2. A signed list of goods that you wish to import. Please identify any goods that are not eligible for TOR..... |

Nope. Its on the first page of instructions when you go to fill in the TOR1 online
Also, when you print out the TOR1, its on the first page, at the bottom. There's more on the form too. |
