. Noticed that London featured prominently on the discontented side. I'm glad we have abandoned the idea of going back there. But, I do so love it still, and will look forward to many visits. Anyone else have their chosen place (or nearby) on the contentment chart? Louise, I think you are nearish to Harrogate?

Makes me glad I didn't choose London after all. LOL. Although my place isn't on the Contented side, at least it's not on the discontented side either..

They don't have Wales on it, but I'll be closest to #2 Stockport which is too far on the motorway.

Seriously though, I am not at all surprised to see that. Harrogate really is a lovely place - hence the high housing prices.
Maybe I shouldn't be moving to Skipton next week

What I don't care for is that it seems to be close to Manchester which is one of the heavily populated urban areas of England, next to Birmingham and London. Of course, I should have taken note of the scale of the map I looked at but did not.
I am very much drawn to Fife, though - and Stirlingshire is beautiful - and so is the Edinburgh area - all in Scotland!!! Choices! Choices!!

Today, I'd give my eye teeth to be just about anywhere in the UK, although my mind always goes to northern England (Yorkshire) or Scotland nowadays. I really want to learn more about Yorkshire. Your photos and blog have really made me take an interest in it. It looks very like the Scottish countryside that I love and it is also very well situated for travel to both Scotland and England, being right in the heart of the UK.

If you live in Yorkshire you'd never have to go near Manchester if you didn't want to, because there is everything you need there. It's not as close as you think...LOL. The same can be said of any 'major' city...you don't have to live right in the middle..you can go further out and not realize you are anywhere close to the crowds. I love using Google Earth because then I can pick somewhere, zoom down to street level and go 'walking' down the streets as though I lived there..LOL Gives me an idea what an area looks like and so long as you check the date of the images, they're pretty accurate

I'm going to be on the border of Lancashire and West Yorkshire and you'd never believe Manchester was about a 30 minute drive away, because if you saw my photo's then you'd think I was miles from anywhere and anything.

I had forgotten that a 30-minute drive is a significant distance in the UK. In fact, I remember Glasgow being about a 45-minute drive from Edinburgh and we only visited there about twice in all the years we were in Edinburgh, and even though it is only something like a 35-mile drive, the two cities are SO different from each other
I didn't realize that Diggle was close to West Yorkshire!!!! That's terrific!
