I think you misread, it was Baked bread not beans! Though it is perfectly possible to make your own if you wish the basic ingredient are available.

And farm reared meat does not necessarily mean mad cow disease check out the real meat company, also there is more readily available organic meat because there is more demand for it probably due to the scare from BSE. BSE raised everyones awareness in Britain and there are now much stricter controls and traceability.

I agree about the curries though.

On bad weather turning us off....

In Victoria today (basically an English climate normally) we have inches of snow and it's - 5. Tomorrow's supposed to be colder, and with the wind chill -- -16!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me cold, windy and rainy any day.

It's not really going off topic. You have to eat a lot of food in the UK to stay warm so you might as well talk about food to beat the cold. All those suet puddings and dumplings we were forced to eat to combat the chill.

The Gods have answered my prayers recently and given me lots of lovely rain here in Melbourne, I only hope they can keep it up till Boxing Day.
