Hi there!
First of all, I am not British I come from Spain (Hope the admin is flexible about this) but I have a similar issue that you very often post in here: Where I can move to live in UK, and I thought you can help me with this topic.
I have been living in St Albans for a year, currently living here but not for a long, and I already know pretty much North London and how much it costs the rent and what kind of job I can get in here. As a consequence I am looking for other places where I would not need to pay so much for a room to live and where most people are British.
Basically I want to improve my English as much as I can and living and working with only British it would work much better than working in a multicultural area.
I am a Primary school teacher and I guess I would be in a good position to get a job as an Teaching Assistant. Meanwhile I were looking for that kind of job, I would try to work in a Pret a Manger/Cafe Nero...
So knowing I am a foreigner, Primary School Teacher and I do not want to pay too much for a room, what cities/towns/areas would you recommend?
Thank you all folks and sorry about the writing mistakes.

Have you logged on the job centre website to see what teaching jobs are available countrywide?
Also rightmove. co.uk is an excellent way of checking out monthly rental prices so you can compare what accommodation you could expect to get for whatever you're prepared to spend.
I think Zoopla would give you ideas of the statistics of an area too regarding crime figures etc.
Personally if I were to give advice where you should live, then I'd suggest going to the North West but I'm biased as I'm from there originally

If your goal is to avoid multicultural areas and improve your English, then you should be thinking provincial smaller cities to the north and west. Such as, and in no particular order: Norwich, York, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Plymouth, Exeter, Hull, Chester. There are many other towns like these where the cost of living is lower than London.

yes the good option is go to smaller cities.
I would add also Liverpool and Portsmouth.

Even in our "multicultural" cities people speak English so I'd say any city will do. Cities with universities might work well, because you are more likely to find people wishing to exchange English language practice for Spanish language practice.
(Edited to add: In fact, our multicultural residents probably speak better English than some citizens depending on which city you're taking about]

Thank you all very much. I am going to study every option and then decide. As for the university city, it´s a very interesting option. I´ll take it.
With respect to the "multicultural" areas, the main reason is, after a year living here, all my friends are foreigners but the persons who I live and work with so I want to change that point and make some friendships with persons who their native language is English.
Thank you again, I´ll write how I am doing in this thread. At the moment, I come back home for spring/summer and I´ll be back to UK in September.
