Can I travel to other EU countries without visa
Hello all,
My husband is british and we have british passports for our children whom were born in the States and have since relocated to the UK last November. I have a Nigerian passport and I am here with a spousal visa with the KOL thing on it. I have taken and passed the Life in the UK test. I don't know what to do now. I know I can get citizenship after 3yrs as we have been married for 6yrs.
My questions are do I need to apply for ILR even though my visa is good for 2yrs and also can I travel to france with the spousal visa or would I have to get a visa for each country I go to?
Thanks

Ask on http://www.immigrationboards.com but as far as I know the deal is:
1. If you have the KOL endorsement on your passport, and have passed the Life in the UK Test, you can apply for ILR immediately and should do so.
2. You will need visas for just about anywhere (incl France) on a Nigerian passport, even if you have ILR. Sorry. All will change when you get a British passport.
Some people have tried to travel visa-free in Europe as the spouse of an EU member state national, but with mixed results, as far as I know. Problem is that a commercial carrier may well simply refuse to allow you to board.

Re: Can I travel to other EU countries without visa
Thank you JAJ. I wasn't going to apply as we are only here temporarily and didn't want to pay the 750. My husband got transferred for a 2yr assignment but I might as well, as it probably will get extended.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
