Brits on TV - 'America's Got Talent'
I was just flicking through the TV channels and was surprised to see Sharon Osbourne as a judge on a 'talent' show called 'America's Got Talent' on NBC. Then I noticed that sitting next to her was Piers Morgan - another Brit who was the editor of one of the UK tabloid newspapers. David Hasselhoff was the other judge. Jerry Springer is the MC/host. It's a bit like "Opportunity Knocks" and a bit cringeworthy to be honest.... (OMG there's a Lena Zavaroni type girl called Erica on right now, it's dreadful...)
I thought it was so nice to hear those lovely English accents.... Actually I like Sharon Osbourne....yes she can be coarse but she seems to have such a warm personality. I've just discovered that this series is the brainchild of Simon Cowell...so he's obviously got 'jobs' for his mates....
There seems to be a number of recent TV shows (mainly on Fox TV) featuring Brits as hosts or judges....the 'Dancing With the Stars' had an English judge who reminded me very much of the old 'Carry On' actor Sidney James.
There's another dance competition series on at the moment, "So You Think You Can Dance" with Cat Deeley (Essex girl?) and one of the exec producers of American Idol as a judge.
Perhaps the acerbic wit goes down well to counteract the culture amongst many Americans to be positive about everything even if it's mediocre? (Although Sharon Osbourne always has nice things to say about almost everyone!)

Simon Cowell is one of the judges on Britain's Got Talent , which is reason enough for me to avoid it like the plague. And I think a lot of the Brit judges have actually come from the UK version of these shows.

We should all apply to be judges on "reality" TV show contests.
We've already got the required accent.

Well it seems to be reciprocated since the British talent shows are awash with Yank jugdes right now.
