We are moving this summer and trying to organize what we are bringing to the UK with us.
My husband just suggested organizing receipts for items we have purchased like our iMac, Wii, etc and we are now wondering about Import Duty on these items.
We have looked on the Customs website and are trying to puzzle through the information but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this?
Thanks!

There is no duty on household/personal effects. Duty will be charged on any items purchased within the last six months and the usual suspects, tobacco, alcohol, perfume etc. You will be asked to complete form C3 and it lists what you have to declare.
So, if you computers were purchased more than six months from the date of your arrival in the UK, you don't need to worry about having receipts. I declared a few items, but was never asked to produce the receipts. I completed the C3 form and gave it to the moving firm and they took care of everything else.
Good luck with your move.

I filled in the C3 form thoroughly with purchase dates etc. but the customs officers seemed hardly interested.
