The plod who lived on our sub division once drunkenly told me that he had moved to NZ after leaving the UK Police on an "Injury Pension" for stress and a back injury. He went on to say that the reason he had picked NZ was that it was so far from the UK that his old Force would not bother calling him in for medicals (every 5 years?) due to the financial implications.

Just before we left for the UK he came to our house all flustered and asked if I had noticed any strangers hanging around. Apparently his old Force had paid for him to be placed under surveillance by an NZ private detective agency. They had sent back video, and inturn his old Force had paid for a return ticket back to the UK so that his injuries could be reviewed.

The guy was in a football team and had a big bugger of a boat that he would launch and recover on his own and appeared to be as stressed as as a Neil the hippie off The Young Ones.

I must drop him an e mail and find out what happened.
