All set now...

Cat is booked to fly home, shipment has sailed and we only have til Saturday until we leave. I'll be glad to get back to sanity and stability after all this. The damage is done. so all we can do is see if there's anything to salvage when we get back to the UK.

Good luck to all others returning..

Rich.

Your gonna be back before me doc! My flight from Perth is booked for 22nd Jan, less than two weeks now!

Can't wait to get back to normality.

It's gonna be cold, but I dont care, I like cold! Give me 10c in January over 39c (today's forecast) anyday!

Take care

My sentiments exactly, I love cold maybe not before here, but now I really appreciate it.

Anyway good luck to both you and Guitardoctor, let us know how it goes if you get time. There seems to be quite a few going back in the next few months. We are aiming for end of OZ winter.

See ya

Hi Rich,

Have a safe trip home and look forward to getting back to normality. It was -1 when we landed last March (bloody fantastic) I could have kissed the tarmac at Manchester Airport, not the nicest of places in the UK but it was home and I felt so relieved that my nightmare was finally over I am sure it will be the same for you.

Good Luck in your future, I am sure even the cat will be glad to be back!!

Good luck on your return G Doctor!!!!
Can't believe we can't return till after 5th May!!! Seems an age away!!! Our pets have had Rabies vaccines so can't travel till after this date!!!

Putting our house on the market some time this week but trying to sell it ourselves (due to 4% fees wanted from the real estate agents!)

Good luck Wilko and Merlot !!! Wish I was going soon, this 'boiling' weather is no fun for me. Give me the cold anyday!!! It's easy to get warm when your cold but not easy to get cool when it's sizzling!!!

Wilko - Merlot - What is making you return and how long have you been here?

Default info please

Rich or anyone who has done the move back..I know the rabies vaccine has to be done prior 6 months to leaving but do you know what the expiry is for it. We are not sure of leaving date and I would like to get my dog vaccinated so at least we definately have 6 months clear even though it may be 8 months before we go. Any advise??

Did you go through the PETS scheme or not???

How easy did you find it getting an international shipper and was it costly??

Any other advice or tips??

Sorry for all the questions but it would sure help to get some advice from someone who has done it already or at least about to.

Many Thanks

Pants moving from Sydney back to Surrey..yipppeeeee

Rabies injection last 12 months then you have to get them a booster but you don't have to then wait another 6 months. Once it is done just make sure you get them injected every 12 months to keep it valid. Other thing to note is that after injection you have to wait so many weeks (I can't remember exactly) and then have them blood tested if they arn't rabies immune you have to start again, so you are best to start as soon as possible.

From what I gather you have to go through the pets scheme. Pets will need a microchip etc

We used Wridgways to come back to the Uk, excellent service.

We are using Transpet to send our little treasure back via Qantas on 24 March - how did your cat fly? Our cat is on the nervous side so a little worried.

How does it feel to be back?

Brief Merlot story . . . Been here 7 years, hubby 17 - back to the UK for a couple of years - a kind of working holiday - see how it goes. Both in our 30's, no kids or ties with mortgages - a lot to be said for renting. Want to enjoy our life in our way.

Over Australia as not an outdoor type of person, hate the heat. Looking forward to rediscovering the UK for a while. Go with the flow .....

Good luck to those coming or going.
