That is so well put! I identify with your every word. I also come from Dorset, as it seems, do quite a lot of people on this forum. We lived in Wimborne, and I am hopeful that we will live there again before too long. When we were back at Christmas and met up with almost every one of our friends, I thought "How and why ?? did I walk away from all this!!" Must've been made, but I guess the lesson learnt is to look at everything you've got and appreciate it more, rather than move to the other side of the world to find something 'better'. The only thing I will really miss is the sea! It is mindblowingly beautiful in Perth, but the rest is mindnumbingly dull! Where in Dorset are you from?

Used to have hols at Branksome Dene in the 1970 s, moved to Canford Cliffs in the 1980 s and went to school in Parkstone, lived in lower Parkstone and near Dorchester. Sister in Poole and Mum too. Miss the places more than the family! ;)

In the house we're renting, you can sit on the sofa and see the grass outside in the gap where the skirting board meets the wall - it's so well built!

You have grass

We've got some sort of spikey, brown stuff which was green when we moved here and I reckon the previous owners spray painted the colour on cos it's all gone now ;)

Well, yes, it is a bit more like "scrub", but whatever it is, you can see a long 12 inch slit of it!!!!

Based on his spelling I'd say that was pretty accurate. Definite signs of an Antipodean 'erudition'.

I think it's called air conditioning here ;)

We have some huge gaps in the mortar around the windows which you would expect to have sealant around, but no, just lots of nice holes for wasps and bugs to live in. I asked a friend about it and he said "yeah, standard stuff here, you need it to keep the air flowing"

well I moved back to the Uk after 2 years in Barbados and 11 years in Sedona Arizona and I gotta tell you it is the best thing I have ever done,I timed it so I could at least have a good summer first before winter set in and I have not regretted it.It was a little strange on the job front cos its a new system now, you have to first of all lucky to be selected for a phone interview then if you pass that then you get a face to face interview and then wait for a few weeks until you may or may not hear from them.

Contrary to what everyone believes living in the USA is not what its cracked up to be. I paid a lot in taxes and also had health insurance which cost me a fortune every month and unfortunately feel ill with the dreaded Cancer, still ended up paying over $12,00 of my own money, and also if it wasnt for family help would have lost the house.

Back where my heart has always been and loving every minute of it.

Well done for getting home, I'm glad you're happier. My best friend lives in Ohio (she's from the US) and hates it. She's had cancer as well so her insurance is sky high now. I hope you are well and recovered, I can't imagine falling ill here as I don't think I'd do anything about it for fear of costs. :(
