Hi all,
Haven't been around too much (other than lurking) but just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have shared your stories here and also to give a quick update myself.
I've been back 15 months now (previously in the USA for 23 years). I can honestly say its the best decision I've ever made. Sure, my lifestyle here is a lot different. I don't earn half as much as I did in the states, I live in a flat that's probably 1/4 the size of the home I left behind but despite all that I am genuinely happy. I finally feel at home, as if I belong. It hasn't been an easy transition by any stretch of the imagination but I'm getting there. My 16 year had a rough start with school etc (long story) but has now settled in beautifully and has more friends than she knows what to do with.
It took me 4 months to find full time work (contract job) but I'm still there and there's talk of me going permanent in the new year which would be awesome as I absolutely LOVE my job. It's funny because I earned so much more in the states doing a job I absolutely hated. Just goes to show, money can't buy happiness
Well, that's me for now. Sending good wishes to all the new home comers out there.
