Luckily my problems are only on super contributions earn't here, as I left my other pensions in the uk, so a pain, but not a disaster.

We moved from UK to Brisbane in 2006, as permanent residents. We transferred our UK pensions to Australian superannuation funds, as we thought we'd be here into retirement. However, we're now planning to return to England next year, and have just found out that Australian superannuation funds cannot be taken out of Australia and have to remain here until we can claim at retirement age. Has anyone else come up against this problem? Any advice/tips about how to make the best of this situation?

In our case we are temporary visa holders but an American in my previous office took back his fund after 10 years in Oz. I am assuming he was on a permanent residency status as he came from another employer here in Oz and had no assistance with visa from our employer.

Even if you could access your pension legally, you wouldn't be able to logistically as millions of pension funds here have been frozen anyway, due to the gross mismanagement of other people's money from Aussie 'experts'.
