Default anyone please help

Hi i am from south africa but am currently involved in a discussion and i'm wondering if anyone can help. If a non UK citizen were to enter the Uk on holiday or a visa and were to give birth in the UK, would the baby have UK citizenship just because it is born there? I said that it would not but i would like to know from someone who is 100% sure so that i don't come across as ignorant

No, sorry. The rules were changed in 1983. Since then, at least one parent must be a British citizen OR permanent resident.
