Default Another possible scam in the UK..be warned

Hi

Just wanted to warn people as I was contacted by this person via the BE classified Ads, from the advert I placed for the sale of our car in Oz.

This person emailed me basically saying they were interested in buying our car...!! blimey o reilly...we really thought fantastic news we got ourselves a possible buyer...!! Alas no....my hubby has spent a few times trying to talk to this guy as his English is not up to much and the emails I got from him just made me more suspicious as I couldn't understand why this bloke would want to buy a car from Oz if he lived in UK..!!It took that long to get him to realise the car was in Australia...anyway to cut it short...ish

he called my hubby's mobile today and asked my hubby to call him back etc. So hubs meets up with me this arvo and tells me he had this call and I check out this number on his mobile...not a UK mobile or UK number so on I get to 118118 and find out it's a Nigerian number...!!! You see this guy has been asking me all week for my address so he can send me a cheque for the car.!!..like yes helloooooooooooooo......on his emails he gives a UK address and UK ( possibly) mobile number, which when connected is like speaking through yoghurt cartons and a bit of string !!

Anyway his details have been passed on to an appropriate authority. I do think this guy knows he has been rumbled as I spoke to him for the first time today and luckily know the difference between a Nigerian accent and a Spanish one..!! bless my dear hubby he still hasn't got the knack on accents yet !!!

Needless to say we are back to square one.....anyone want to buy a Honda Civic??? Soapy...!!? ..anyone.....!!! pls...pretty pls...

Must be us...they tried to scam us on ebay with a mobile phone sale....!!

When in UK and I was running an internet shop selling ballet wear I regularly had enquiries from Nigeria. They always requested shipping costs and then proceeded to ask about sim cards. Very dodgy, I just never replied.

nigerians seem to have a bad reputation...almost everywhere. I know there are some bad eggs..but definitely not all nigerians are. I know im one of the good ones.

but im sure ballet wear isnt very relevant in nigeria...

these are definately dodgy , we were trying to sell a motorbike on ebay we have numerous enquiries from suspect people but one said if he paid shipping costs to usa would we be happy about that , he would sent a cheque for the shipping and bike , this totalled £4500 . the give away was in his first email his name was Loydd Banks , second time it was Lloyd banker and the names went on , in the end we said please do not email us anymore the bike was sold , so he offered to double the money , we said no, we kept the emails and sent them to the police who had had many dealings with this guy , he sends the cheque , it provisionally clears , you release the bike and then the cheque is stopped and no trace of bike or money. they think uses many names and various countries for shipping

definatley a scam

scams seem to be everywhere, I live in Ireland and just got a repy to a adv I have on a web site for rented property it came for someone in USA(with poor english) they never asked any questions about the property but want to send me a cheque for 4 months rent in advance -- problem is the cheque will be €5k more than the rent and I have to return the balance by return post so this poor woman and her child can afford to travel. What strange times we live in.
